Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

California's Hwy 1: Santa Cruz to Pescadero

California's Hwy 1: Santa Cruz to Pescadero

During our visit last weekend, our aunts decided to take us on a drive to a charming town they love called Pescadero. Stuart and I have driven down California's scenic coastal highway from San Francisco to Santa Cruz before, but there was so much fog that we could only see as far as a few meters out. This time we were blessed with clear and sunny weather.

It was a treat to have Stuart be a passenger instead of the driver, and I wasn't the navigator. It's the beauty of being shown around by locals. Our aunts' super-sweet Golden Retriever, Mattie, also went on the drive with us.

We stopped by a lighthouse on our way to Pescadero for a quick pit stop and to take in the scenery. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the drive:

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Built in 1871, Pigeon Point Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in the west coast of the United States. The buildings around have been serving as hostel for travelers of all ages since the mid-60's. It's operated by the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International.

We barely scratched Hwy 1's surface. We're already thinking of a drive to Big Sur. When will that happen? I can only hope it will be sooner than later.

Next post will be about our super quick exploration of Pescadero!
